Heathrow has held the title for most of the past three decades, but for the first time since the pandemic it isn’t Europe’s busiest airport. Istanbul’s five-runway mega-hub pulled about 290,000 passengers ahead in July, and the shift says as much about Heathrow’s limits as Istanbul’s growth.
