Victor Aguilar Hugo, a Deaf Totora Artisan, invited me to his home in Ecuador to see how he transforms reeds from Lake San Pablo into beautiful handcrafted works of art. From harvesting totora to weaving each piece by hand, his dedication to preserving the Kichwa tradition is truly inspiring.
