Whilst I have some sympathy with this argument, I do not think it is a good idea. The reasons for demotion in 2006 were clearly given, and if Pluto is to be upgraded, then so should Ceres, in the Asteroid Belt, and so should Pluto's Kuiper Belt neighbours, such as Eris and Sedna.
